The Tales of a Wannabe Seamstress: PART TWO
The Tales of a Wannabe Seamstress Part 2:
Today started like any normal day would. Little baby Kalani awoke at the asscrack of dawn & my day began.
But unlike yesterday, a successful day of sewing was to bestowed upon me by the Brother & Bobbin Gods. I put Little down for a nap at 10:30 this morning & got to cutting fabric; the fabric that would create my very first hybrid diaper.
Cutting takes forever.
2- Windpro Fleece
3- Bamboo Cotton
ALL CUT IN BEAUTIFUL HARMONY!
Once cut, I admired my work. No, really, I stared at it for about 5 minutes.
11:07 Kalani WAKES UP.
Time to put on Boove for him to watch.
Next were the snaps for the front of the diaper.
Ten Snaps straight across
ALL PERFECT. NOT ONE MESS UP ON SNAPS!!
Now for the rise snaps
3 male, 6 female
Beautiful. My male snaps were poking out perfectly as manly snaps would.
Fantastic! My female snaps were sitting there just waiting to be penetrated by their male counterparts. Yah know, to control the rise and all…
Next I was to turn it inside out to do an overcast stitch around the perimeter of my poo catcher, but leaving the top area open.
Finally, I did a straight stitch around the edge of the overcast because goodness knows there would be a hole or some crap if I didn’t.
Flip rightside out.
AWESOME. Everything is in its proper position.
Elastic casings next.
One on the top back, one on each leg.
All perfectly executed.
Back elastic. done.
Left leg. NEEDLE BROKE.
Instead of using a safety pin to pull my elastic through, I use a bobby pin, reason being, I have no safety pins. I hadn’t pulled it all the way & the needle caught it.
Pullout game weak.
That’s okay, that’s okay. We will just replace our needle.
Right leg, done.
After, I put in another perfect snap in the back so I can snap in soakers.
(soakers that I will leave for another day)
Topstitch time. Front open area is closed, stitched & the whole diaper is beautiful… and if by beautiful I mean super crooked.
4 snaps left for the wings.
2 male on the left.
2 male on the right.
All snapped into position like a whip on a horse.
FINISHED. I’M FINISHED.
I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
Yesterday. A DAY OF TURMOIL.
TODAY. A DAY OF ACCOMPLISHMENT & PROSPERITY.
